Inc. Magazine revealed that GRSi is on its inaugural Inc. 5000 Series: D.C. Metro list, the most prestigious ranking of the fastest-growing private companies in D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware. Born of the annual Inc. 5000 franchise, this regional list represents a unique look at the most successful companies within the D.C. Metro economy’s most dynamic segment—its independent small businesses.

GRSi earned the top spot as Government Contracting Company of the Year at the 2021 Industry Awards Celebration (IAC) held by Maryland Tech Council (MTC). This is GRSi’s first year winning this prestigious MTC award, although the company has been previously honored four times as a top 5 Government Contractor. GRSi’s President and CEO, David Affeldt is also no stranger to the IAC, having won CEO of the Year in 2019
For the fourth year in a row, GRSi was once again named a finalist for Government Contractor of the Year by the Maryland Tech Council. Not only recognizing the firm for its exceptional achievements in this area, GRSi President and CEO Dr. David Affeldt was also named CEO of the Year, marking his second time as a nominee and recognizing Dr. Affeldt as a true business leader in Maryland’s technology industry. According to Howard Rothman, co-chair of the MTC Industry Awards nominating committee, “This year’s process has far exceeded my expectations as it relates to both the quality and excellence of the nominations across all industries. For the third year in a row, GRSi was a finalist for the Maryland Tech Council’s annual Industry Awards. Nominated for Government Contracting Company of the Year, the award recognizes the firm’s outstanding achievements in this area. “We are honored to be recognized by the Tech Council for the third year in a row. In back-to-back years, GRSi made the Industry Awards finalist list by the Maryland Tech Council. President and CEO Dr. David Affeldt was named Finalist for Chief Executive Officer of the Year. “This recognition belongs to all of GRSi because of your dedication to your clients and their missions,” says Dr. Affeldt. “I continue to be proud of the work you do each day to make GRSi great.” The MTC Industry Awards recognize high achievers in the regional technology, life science, and government contracting industries.
The Technology Council of Maryland (TCM) named GRSi as a Top 5 Technology Firm of the Year and GRSi’s President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr. David Affeldt, as a Top 5 CEO of the Year. The TCM Industry Awards recognize the leaders and innovators in the technology and life science communities from Maryland and the surrounding regions.
GRSi was named the Government Contracting Company of the Year by the Tech Council of Maryland, Frederick County. Demonstrating more than 300% growth within a five-year period, GRSi has built a business off of proven past performance in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Civilian, and Commercial markets. Company President and Co-Owner, David Affeldt, expressed appreciation to the Tech Council for recognizing the hard work of all GRSi employees who deliver excellence in their mission support services to clients nationwide.
The FedHealthIT100 honors those individuals recognized for driving change and advancement in the Federal Health Information Technology and Consulting Market. Nominated and chosen by their peers, some common themes among those who were selected include the desire and willingness to challenge conventional wisdom, to go above and beyond, to drive innovation, and to give back to the larger Federal Health IT and Consulting community.

GRSi recently made the Inc. 5000 list of the “Fastest Growing Private Companies in America” for the sixth time, an achievement less than 2.75% of companies who appear on the list have accomplished. GRSi has seen a three-year growth of 103%, also ranking them #13 in the Washington, DC area for technical services provided to both federal and commercial clients.

In a stagnant economic environment, the companies on this year’s list report having created 350,000 jobs in the past three years. The aggregate revenue among the honorees reached $366 billion, up 14 percent from the previous year. GRSi ranked 32nd in the nation for job creation.

GRSi was named a winner of the 2018 Velocity Growth Award from CEO Report in both the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. regional categories, their most prestigious award. According to CEO Report, this award honors the region’s fastest-growing companies for their “determination, dedication, and drive [putting] their organizations on the path to continued success that will impact the regional economic landscape for years to come and serve as an example to others.” GRSi President and CEO Dr. David Affeldt accepted the awards on behalf of the organization. “GRSi is thrilled to be recognized for our continued record growth and our economic contributions,” said Dr. Affeldt. “This highlights the incredible work our teams deliver here, across the country, and across the world. GRSi President and CEO Dr. Davide Affeldt received the 2016 SmartCEO Circle of Excellence Award for Government Contracting. The Circle of Excellence program recognizes the region’s most accomplished CEOs for business excellence.
GRSi President and CEO Dr. David Affeldt, was selected as a finalist in the SmartCEO Circle of Excellence Awards program, recognizing the region’s most accomplished CEOs for business excellence in 10 distinct categories. Public and private companies are nominated from all size and industry categories. Finalists are showcased in the November/December issue of SmartCEO magazine and celebrated at an awards reception, where the winners are announced.

GRSi President and CEO Dr. David Affeldt, was named a SmartCEO Cornerstone Award Honoree and recognized for partnering with local organizations, donating to community causes, and mentoring the future generation of leaders. The Cornerstone Awards program honors businesses headquartered in areas surrounding the Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC, metro markets. Awardees and honorees include companies of all sizes and industry segments who have made a positive impact on job creation and retention, market competition, and philanthropy.
Congressman Bartlett presented GRSi with a special recognition award for performance from 2011 to 2012 and recognized GRSi’s distinction as government contracting firm of the year. GRSi is honored to receive such recognition from Congressman Bartlett, who is such a strong advocate of businesses, especially those in the “tech-corridor” and Frederick County.
Senators Mikulski and Cardin also recognized GRSi with a certificate for “smart business practices and continued growth in poor economic times.” The award came in response to GRSi’s wave of task order and contract wins, including significant growth in its support at Fort Detrick.
The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) presented GRSi with an Above and Beyond Award, recognizing the company for exceeding the legal requirements for granting leave and providing the support that ensures availability and readiness of Reserve forces. GRSi was nominated by one of the company’s own employees whose reserve unit was called into action.
The Above and Beyond award is one of a limited number given by the Maryland Committee for ESGR. ESGR is an agency within the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs that is tasked by the Department of Defense to “promote both public and private understanding of the National Guard and Reserve in order to gain U.S. employer and community support through programs and personnel policies and practices that shall encourage employee and citizen participation in National Guard and Reserve programs.”
